About
I have been in the children's and YA field for thirty years, beginning with my first picture book, "Alicia Has a Bad Day" (HMH, 1994) which is still in print! I written and illustrated a dozen or so picture books, some early reader comic books, three young adult novels. My most recent chapter book is a surreal, fantasy collection of related short stories, "The Kids of Cattywampus Street" (Penguin/Random House, 2021) which Lemony Snickett called "An extraordinary book." This was an Amazon Editor's pick and number one in short stories for children.
I received my MFA from Emerson College in 1994 and have been teaching ever since and have mentored many students into successful careers as authors, editors, or publicists in the field. I am currently Associate Professor of creative writing at Rowan University in southern New Jersey. I grew up in Maine and still spend every summer on an island 12 miles off the coast where I run a small gallery. I live with my partner who is an illustrator, printmaker, bookmaker, poet and yoga instructor, and our Puerto Rican sato dog, Wally.

The Kids of Cattywampus Street
In this delightful chapter book filled with black-and-white pictures, you'll meet Lionel, Lindalee, Hans, Mateo, Evelyn, Ursula, and others--the kids who live on Cattywampus Street, not far from the Waddlebee Toy Store.
Each of the eleven chapters in this magical, mysterious, silly, scary, happy, and sometimes sad chapter book tells an utterly unforgettable tale about one of the kids. Whether it's about Lionel and his magic ball, which knows how to find him after its been stolen away; or Charlotta, who shrinks so small that she can fit inside her dollhouse; or Rodney, whose pet rock becomes the envy of all the kids on Cattywampus Street, here are stories sure to charm, captivate, and engage all readers of chapter books, even the most reluctant.
