Sharon Elaine Thompson, in Salem, Oregon, is a Graduate Gemologist and Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Her articles on business, jewelry manufacturing processes, light theory, gemstones, singing dunes, jewelry artists, design, and education have been published primarily in jewelry trade, association, and hobby publications. In addition, she has written training and educational material for the Diamond Council of America, the Gemological Institute of America, and Glencoe McGraw Hill. She reviews books for Blue Ink Review and Gems & Gemology.
Fascinated by the physical and biological sciences and wildlife, three of her four young adult titles were science related: The Greenhouse Effect; Death Trap: the Story of the La Brea Tar Pits; and Built for Speed: the Extraordinary and Enigmatic Cheetah.
Sharon writes women’s fiction/suspense under the name Liz Hartley.
