LA Chapter Event: A Discussion on the Craft of Science Writing

Please join the Authors Guild for a discussion panel and Q&A on the craft of science writing.

Our panel includes award-winning journalist Vincent Beiser, a grantee of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Beiser’s first book, The World in a Grain: The Story of Sand and How It Transformed Civilization, was published in August 2018. He is joined by Edward Humes, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and PEN award winner whose latest book, Burned: A Story of Murder and the Crime That Wasn't published in January 2019. Environmental journalist Linda Marsa will be moderating. Marsa is the author of Fevered: How a Hotter Planet Will Harm Our Health.

Panelists will discuss specific issues and obstacles science writers must contend with, how to find the right agent, and what to keep in mind when publishing your book. We will follow the discussion with a 20-minute audience Q&A. Hosted by Los Angeles ambassadors Kristin Wong and Magdalena Edwards. RSVP to losangeleschapter@authorsguild.org
