Does social media really sell books?

Authors often hear that they should spend time on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and multiple other platforms to build an audience for their writing. This work can feel like a time sink, with no way to measure a return on the investment. Concerns about privacy and misinformation have cast a shadow on this industry. Meanwhile the number of platforms keep multiplying, with each hailed as the greatest innovation. But handled adroitly, social media can prove a powerful tool.

In this panel discussion, co-sponsored by the Authors Guild and the Women’s National Book Association, you’ll hear specific examples of audiences entranced, deals made and careers boosted from writers who have made social media work for them.
