I currently serve as the spiritual director of Jaya Kula, a nonprofit religious organization offering opportunities to learn and practice in the traditions of direct realization Tantra. We are based in Portland, Maine.
I hold a Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University and am an ex-professor of Comparative Literature and New Media (Northwestern University). I left academia in 2004 in order to devote myself to spiritual practice, writing and teaching.
I've published four books (see below). For about twenty years, I worked as a consultant and wrote lot of stuff, including articles, blog posts, reports, books and film scripts, for human rights organizations in the U.S. and elsewhere. I've also published a bunch of articles and essays in academic journals when I used to do that.
Jaya Kula Press will be publishing three more of my books in 2016-2017. First up is Reality Sutras: the View of Direct Realization Tantra. Then we'll be publishing a book of poetry tentatively titled No Retreat: Poems on the Way to Waking Up. In early 2017, we'll roll out 9 Poisons, 9 Medicines and 9 Fruits, a manuscript developed from some recent teachings I've given.
