Kate Deimling translates fiction and non-fiction from French. She holds a Ph.D. in French literature from Columbia University and wrote her dissertation on 18th-century libertine novels. Forthcoming translations include Yves Saint Laurent by Laurence Benaïm (Rizzoli) and Powers of the Portrait Under the Spanish Habsburgs by Diane Bodart (Brepols). Kate is a member of the PEN Translation Committee and directs the mentoring program of the New York Circle of Translators. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
