I write poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and scholarly essays. Over 200 of my works have appeared in magazines and anthologies. In addition, I've self-published a double volume of poetry, a double volume of short stories, and a book about Emily Dickinson's use of color. My poetry chapbook, Unmythical Women, won an award from and was published by Slapering Hol Press in 1994.
As for supporting other writers, my publication companies, Calypso and Winterhawk Press, have produced, first, an annual magazine, and then chapbooks such as Tam Lin Neville's "Dreaming in Chinese," anthologies such as "Ashes Caught on the Edge of Light," and individual books such as Julie Ferri's "Survival Blessing." Our books have received reviews from such places as "Library Journal."
Recently, I've won writing awards from "The MacGuffin," the Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival, "Third Wednesday," and the Idaho Writers Guild. My story "The Blackboard" recently appeared in "Steam Ticket."
