Marcelo Augusto Matus Nicodemos
I'm originally from Brazil, but moved to the United States, New York City, at fifteen years of age. I developed an interest in American literature through American friends who were heavy readers and who helped spearhead my lifelong interest in fantasy and science fiction. As a teenager, and before moving to the United States, I developed an interest in the UFO phenomena, which I correlated with folklore from around the world (initially Greek, Norse and Celtic mythologies, but which now incorporates Native American, Middle Eastern, and East Asian myths and folktales). I write fiction which helps to illustrate the connection and similarities between worldwide folktales and modern day aspects of the UFO phenomena. I also sprinkle bits and pieces of my experience as an immigrant to the United States in my fiction writing, and this takes the form of characters who deal with identity and belonging issues in a world that seems all too unwelcoming, uncertain, and sometimes hostile.
