Deborah Hopkinson is the award-winning author of more than fifty books for young readers and teens. Her work includes picture books, middle grade fiction, and nonfiction. Her titles include Titanic: Voices from the Disaster, which was named a Sibert Medal Honor book; Sky Boys: How They Built the Empire State Building, a Boston Globe-Horn Book honor title; and Courage & Defiance, winner of an Oregon Book Award. Her 2018 titles include Ordinary, Extraordinary Jane Austen and D-Day: The World War II Invasion that Changed History.
Deborah received her BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and MA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She worked in higher education fundraising before becoming a full time writer in 2014. She lives near Portland, Oregon.
