Yasmine S. Ali, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist, bestselling author, award-winning medical writer, and speaker based in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Her latest book is Walk through Fire: The Train Disaster that Changed America, about the Waverly Train Disaster of 1978 and the creation of FEMA.

Dr. Ali is President of LastSky Writing, LLC and author of the "Speak for the Heart" blog and newsletter, providing insights on heart health. She is Chief Editor of the Atherosclerosis and Congenital Heart Disease sections for Medscape Reference from WebMD. She also serves as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for Verywell Health and Health.com. Dr. Ali was responsible for creating and curating all web-based health content for the Verywell Obesity site for 3 years. She is currently a columnist for "Women in Medicine" from MDLinx.

In addition to publishing extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals, Dr. Ali's writing has appeared in Reader's Digest, Vogue magazine, Healthline, and The Tennessean, among others, and she was a winner of Real Simple magazine’s 2015 Life Lessons essay contest.
