Stuart Rosebrook, Ph.D. is a professional historian, editor, writer and public speaker. His areas of expertise include 20th Century American Popular Culture, Professional Baseball, the American West and Public History. He is currently on contract as senior editor for "True West" magazine (Cave Creek, Arizona) and as an acquisitions editor for Wolfpack Publishing (Las Vegas, Nevada). He is currently the Principal of an independent media company. He is a known expert on the West, baseball, film, television and publishing.
He is co-author with Jeb Rosebrook of Junior Bonner: The Making of a Classic with Steve McQueen and Sam Peckinpah in the Summer of 1971 (Bear Manor Press, 2018); the author of At Work in Arizona: The First 100 Years, a custom photo-essay book for Alliance Bank of Arizona (2014) and editor of The True West Ultimate Historic Travel Guide (2018). He is under contract with Heritage Builders Publishing to write “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash: How the Man in Black Changed America One Song at a Time, 1969-1971.”
He is an expert on the history of professional baseball, especially its importance as cornerstone American institution and its National Pastime. During and following the completion of his Arizona State University doctoral dissertation, “Diamonds in the Desert: The History of Professional Baseball in the American Southwest, 1915-1958,” he was a contributor to the Diamondbacks magazine and the Society of American Baseball Research. He has also made numerous public appearances speaking on the history of baseball. As a baseball historian he recently published the centerpiece feature in Phoenix Magazine’s special July 2018 insert “Diamonds of the Desert: We look back at the origins of the Valley’s most decorated sports team—and sink our fangs into its glorious 2001 World Series run.”
In addition, he has three decades of experience in communications and development spanning varied organizations and industries ranging from television production, broadcast news, education, multi-media, publishing, public history and media production.
