About

Jane Sutton grew up (although she never completely grew up) in Roslyn, Long Island. She began writing stories and poems at a young age and was lucky to receive encouragement from her teachers. In response to the indignities of childhood, she developed a sense of humor.

At Brandeis University, Jane received a B.A. in Comparative Literature, graduating magna cum laude, with honors in her major, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She also met her husband—Alan Ticotsky—at Brandeis. After college, she wrote reading comprehension tests, was a newspaper reporter, and a copywriter for a medical instrumentation company.

Now, besides writing books, Jane is a writing tutor--helping middle school through college students express their ideas clearly. She teaches a community education class for adults about how to write for kids. Jane enjoys giving presentations in schools, bookstores and libraries. Her presentations for young audiences are designed to inform, entertain, and inspire children to want to write themselves. Her talks for adults colorfully describe the roller coaster life of a children's book author.

Jane and Alan, an educator and science author, live in Lexington, Massachusetts and have two fabulous grown children and daughter-in-law, who also live in the Boston area.
