I began writing professionally in 1966, and have been writing full-time since 1994. I have published six novels (all with the University of Wisconsin Press), two children's picture books, and about thirty-five nonfiction books (the most recent from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.) My books feature upper Midwestern rural history and country living. My novels are issue-driven, each focusing on an issue that rural communities often face. I have also done five, hour-long documentaries for Public TV, each documentary based on one of my books. Go to www.jerryapps.com for more information.
