Brian Ethan Brandt
I am a writing polymath, with specialization in résumés through my own firms Questory and VenatiQuest. Both firms offer full-suite career services custom to client need. I am the owner of a résumé credentialing process known as Honey Claw (TM). And as a personality with the résumé world, I am known as The Resume Badger (TM).
For pleasure, I write and recite spontaneous haiku and poetry, the latter sometimes delivered in song. It should be of no surprise that I was an "Improv" actor in college. In 2015, I participated in one improvisational theater event as an audience member. When queried for a "book title" by the lead, I declared Spontaneous Poetry Now. It was then that I knew I had a gift, for they did not perform so well on-the-fly. At intermission, I got to show off another talent by getting in some spontaneous Latin dancing, to which the tone and tenor of the music accommodated -- spontaneously. My thanks to the band!
On my way out, I took the emcee mic in the front lobby. We'll leave that speech out of this profile, but let's just conclude that I'm a big ham. Nature, long walks, and living in a cerebral town keep me grounded. I enjoy light Tai Chi at home, and believe everyone needs to observe daily periods of silence. Long ones. I'm an ambivert if ever there was one. The balance of vibrancy with good listening; mindfulness; and a true love of the other -- human, animal, and plant -- has made for a wonderful bouquet and banquet.
Continuing with my writing talents -- they have been reflected on IT websites, in internal corporate communications, press releases, and best-of-all letters. Like the guy in the movie 'Her,' I, too, am a hired letter writer. My personal correspondences reach globally known C-level executives and hometown sweethearts. My peak rate is an incredible $10 per word.
I've got a cool etiquette book going that is not focused on dining or manners, both of which I value and master. The life I've led has been emblematic of how my unique persona opens doors. So I will instead be sharing tips and takes from those past decades in an easy-to-read format. My goal is to help the reader stand out! (And definitely not stick out.)
I was born in the great state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Yes, Rhode Island really is an island. That's the official name of the Aquidneck Island, on which befamed 'Sailing Capital of the World' and Gilded Age icon Newport sits. I returned to Providence after two decades in Boston that were preceded by one-year terms in Dallas and Atlanta before that. I do love my snow.
Providence has a rich history in the writing world, with H.P. Lovecraft being our original literary hero of the macabre. "I Am Providence" reads his epitaph. Edgar Allen Poe has a rich history here as well. I love the darker side of life in print, but walk in the light for sure.
More than anything, I love to write. I believe we all have many passions. Work and what we get paid for should instead follow a purpose. I use my talents to help others in their careers. I being a lot of value to their personal life in the process. I believe in uplifting people.
Writing is a talent that can be cultivated. I improve daily. The key is to work at it. Motivation comes as a byproduct of work. So just get started! Lighting bolts of inspiration leave char. Inspiration from highlight reels do not show the hard work that people in those stories put in to get featured. Stephen King had his first break at 45. To call it a break can also diminish the value of persistence. "You wouldn't get lucky if you didn't work so hard" goes the saying.
I'm also a foodie into fitness and wellness. My idea of landlocked is any town without a coastline. Anywhere like that simply won't do. Find me on the beach in New England, at my retreat in Rockport, walking the streets of Cambridge, or meandering the West Side of Manhattan--and you'll find me happy.
Best of luck with your writing careers, and to one and all ... What Cheer!
