A former newspaper editor in New Orleans, Lan Sluder is the author of more than 20 books, mostly on travel and retirement, and also on other subjects including classic Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars, the game of bridge, and popular private eyes in fiction, television and film. He founded, edited and publisher a magazine on the country of Belize called Belize First. Among his books are Fodor's Belize, Amazing Asheville, Living Abroad in Belize, Easy Belize, Asheville: Retirement, Relocation and Visitor Guide, and Frommer's Best Beach Vacations: The Carolinas & Georgia. He has also contributed to many newspapers, magazines and online media around the world, including Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Caribbean Travel & Life, The Tico Times in Costa Rica, Charlotte Observer, New Orleans Business, Canada's Globe & Mail, Bangkok Post, and Where to Retire. Lan Sluder lives on a mountain farm near Asheville with his wife, an attorney.
