From a perspective of within, Chere Hughes expresses motivations of the human spirit. Her fiction uses esoterics, neuroscience, and quantum theory as the stage for a journey within. Her work speaks to the potential inside oneself and how that communes with the whole.
She illustrates with charcoal and vibrant pastels revealing figurescapes surrounded with structure, atmosphere, and symbolism. Her emotionally engaging drawings and colorful writing spin tales.
Before earning her BFA at ASU Chere worked as a mortician. At ASU she studied under Mark Klett, Jim Hajicek, and Stephen Smith. Chere was awarded ‘best of show’ Senior exhibition. She earned her master’s in education at UNLV and recently taught art, English, and funeral service education for eight years at Vincennes University Vincennes, IN.
Chere’s work has been seen in numerous national exhibitions as well as in public and private collections.
Inspired by the UnSeen - The Nine, fiction novel
"As I spin tales of the Journey to self actualization. This fantasy adventure is told via neuroscience, quantum theory and esoterics reflecting the energies and expressing the corporeal experiences of the human condition.
Inspired by the UnSeen - Integration, a graphic novel
I create artwork inspired by the unSeen... In deep saturated colors, the figures are surrounded by remnants and residue whispering secrets. These imaginations are manifestations from both my seen but primarily unSeen experiences. The story begins with an inkling awareness and journeys through the process of becoming aware.
