A decades-long journalist for history enthusiast magazines and intermittent major feature contributor to the Chicago Tribune. A specialist in revealing the little-known or ignored but essential people, places, and great events essential to the victory in WW II. This led to publication on March 1, 2019 of The Hidden Places of World War II. The 355-page, hard-bound work published by Lyons Press/Rowman & Littlefield enters the existing but overlooked places that contributed to the victory. Instructor in adult continuing education in a north suburban Chicago college and a 48-year certified Chicago tour guide. A regular presenter for groups seeking expanded knowledge of World War II, Chicago history, architecture and neighborhoods. A Chicago native and the only son of Irish immigrants.
