About

IRA WOLFMAN is a writer and editor who has spent his career creating compelling, effective, and award-winning content for children, parents, and teachers.

For the past ten years, he has been running his own editorial consulting practice, POE Communications, where he manages projects, creates content, and advises educational media companies and nonprofit organizations. POE’s repeat clients include the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Southern Poverty Law Center, The Nation magazine, Cricket Media, Digital Book World, Highlights for Children, Dorling Kindersley, the National Museum of American Jewish History, www.readworks.org, Copia Education, and Woodburn Press.

Previously, he spent more than a decade at Children’s Television Workshop (CTW), and eight years at Weekly Reader Publishing, developing numerous educational and consumer materials for children. At Weekly Reader, he transformed a sleepy 100-year-old company into a leader in digital innovation, producing magazines, themed educational websites, and digital news bulletins, as well as books, eBooks, and apps. For CTW (now Sesame Workshop), he supervised the editorial production of six magazines and numerous custom-publishing publications.

In addition to his work as a publishing executive, Wolfman is the author of "Climbing Your Family Tree: Online and Offline Genealogy for Kids" (Workman Publishing), "My World and Globe: An Interactive Introduction to Geography" (Workman), and "Jewish New York: Memorable Moments, Notable Neighborhoods" (Rizzoli/Universe).
