C. Judson King
C. Judson (Jud) King has been with the University of California since 1963. As a Berkeley Chemical Engineering faculty member his research centered on processes for separating homogeneous mixtures in general and solvent extraction, adsorption, spray drying, and freeze-drying in particular. He was simultaneously in university administration, serving as Department Chair, He is the author of "Separation Processes", McGraw-Hill, 1971, 1980, still in print with Dover and also available open-access. Dean of the College of Chemistry, and Provost - Professional Schools and Colleges at Berkeley, and then for a decade as Senior Vice President and Provost of the University of California as a whole. He then spent another decade as Director of Berkeley's Center for Studies of Higher Education. This combination of experience led to the 2018 book, "The University of California: Creating, Nurturing, and Maintaining Academic Quality in a Public University Setting".
