I grew up in New England -- from Vermont village to inner city Boston and Hartford, hightailed it to Manhattan and the writing life, then up to Western Massachusetts, otherwise known as the California of New England. Wrote my first novel when the baby sitter came, found an agent who got me to Bob Gottlieb and published three novels at Knopf until my husband's illness nudged me out of fiction and into journalism. Now I'm back in fiction with a second historical novel out last year from Levellers Press. And to my surprise a poetry chapbook in 2011 from Finishing Line press, dubbed a Must Read by the Massachusetts Center for the Book.
