About

I'm an editor, author, and educator. My long career as an acquisitions editor at Viking Penguin, A Division of PenguinRandomHouse, came to a close in 2018. There, I worked to bring forward new and diverse voices and alternative points of view. I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Terry McMillan, Ruth Ozeki, Lan Cao, Deborah Harkness, Melissa Bank, George Hodgman, Gregory Blake-Smith, David Servan-Schreiber, Marion Woodman, Tara Brach and many others. I am the author of The Unruly Passions of Eugénie R., a novel about a woman's coming-to-consciousness in Second Empire France, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2012. I am currently the Elizabeth Drew Professor of English Language and Literature at Smith College.
