Karen Lillis is the author of two novellas and two short novels, including Watch the Doors As They Close (Spuyten Duyvil, 2012), The Second Elizabeth (Six Gallery Press, 2009), and i, scorpion: foul belly-crawler of the desert (Words Like Kudzu Press, 2000). She has been a regular contributor at The Austin Chronicle, New York Nights, and Undie Press, and her writing has been published in Evergreen Review, Everyday Genius, Free State Review, Guide to Kulchur Quarterly, LA Cultural Weekly, Occupy Wall Street Poetry Anthology, Pulse/Berlin, Toad Suck Review, TRIP CITY, and Volume 1 Brooklyn, among others. She has been a writer in residence at Shakespeare and Company in Paris and has read her work in Paris, New York, San Francisco, LA, and many American cities in between. In 2014 her fiction writing was recognized with an Acker Award for Avant Garde Excellence. Lillis was born in Washington, DC and lived in Virginia, Texas, New York, and France before relocating to Pittsburgh in late 2005.
